After touring the artifacts of Pompeii we exited through the casts of the folks that were frozen in time on that August day so many years ago. In some of the casts you can see the lines on their faces. This couple really got to me. They are together, forever - which is probably just how they would have wished it to be.
The lines of their bodies work for my thumb-nail challenge
Brongs back childhood memories- My Parents and I saw Pompeii when I was just about 7 years old but I still recall some of the artifacts from the eruption- a dog, tied or chained and trapped in its convulsions. Remember dad bought my mother a necklace of carved black lava (or at least that is what it was represented to be) that was lovely. He was a soldier stationed in Germany and we definitely toured on a tight budget but I have many fond memories of those days.
I actually visited the real ruins of Pompeii a few year back. Quite a sight. Our guide took us on an offbeat path from the other groups and we explored some of the more intimate places still standing, including a bordello!
Well that's not something you see every day! My friend went there and told me about it... it's on my never-ending list. Great that they made casts so the story could be told and seen abroad
