The challenge for today is to share something from your childhood. I choose this teapot because I always remember my Mom having this and how dear it was to her. The family lore is that it came west with a covered wagon. I don't know about that. It says "Sudlow's, Made in England" on the bottom. Looking on the net I find lots of teapots but none like this one so I don't know if it is really old or not. But it was dear to my Mother and now it sits in my china cabinet - which holds very little china and lots of other things that are dear to me.
Ah, lovely ,an old fashioned brown glazed teapot, they don't make them like that anymore...........goodness your family go back a long way, covered wagons? amazing!!
Oh, Cathy, this is beautiful. Love all the detail. So wonderful to have all those treasures. I always wondered if I was heading West in a covered wagon what would I take???
@yonnie Well somebody in my family apparently needed a teapot really badly. That is what I was told. No idea if it is true or not as I can't find something to compare it to, age wise.
@allie912 You know Allison I probably could. I almost used the rolling pin that I know was my grandmothers. I used to watch her make noodles and the best rolls in the world Never had any as good before or since I will be using that tonight to make dumplings.
Oh lovely shot and lovely pattern pot, and I am still a fan of tea in the occassional pot... somethings just stick. I attempted a bubble picture for the same challenge - but they failed so this afternoon I will be attempting plan B 'sugar lumps' if I can find any.
@shannew Wish I really knew how old it is. @filsie65 Thanks Phil. That is how I feel about it. @gerry Thank you Gerry; You are always so supportive and kind. @windridge Thanks Susan. @maggiemae I do keep it safe. I don't know of it ever being used. @aurorajane Hope you do. I will be on the lookout for your shot. @karenann It is priceless to me. @anazad511 I have so many great memories. They are all around me. @lyno Thanks Lyn. I have a million of them. @princesicita Thank you Princess.
A beautiful piece of work. As a historian by profession, I know how often these family stories have at least a grain of truth so I wouldn't entirely discount the covered wagon story.
I love this teapot I can understand why she held on to it and why you continue to do so..... I could sit and listen to your stories for days on end and I thank you for sharing
