The Hermitage by craftymeg

The Hermitage

A shot from my daughters walk near Goathland on the North York Moors it’s a hermits cave, empty now but is dated in an inscription back to 1790. It’s carved out of a sandstone rock with a door no window and a bench to sit on, an amazing piece of workmanship!!

What a find. It looks like there are watchers on this side of the tree keeping a lookout for the doorway of the cave.

It is a lovely relic, and your daughter chose a lovely area for a walk. Last time I passed there was at speed, since I was taking part in a challenge walk!
