And by collage, I don't mean composites built in photoshop, but rather images made up from groups of photos... also, please let me know what software you used to build your collage...
I've not been happy with my efforts in the past and I have an idea for a collage that i want to do over the next few days...
Collages are so tough for me. I did it in Gimp and it was damned near impossible. I want a program to let me drop and drag my photos into. It was a ton o' work, but I liked the result mostly. Only one the whole year. Too tough. I will just stick to one photo and post fillers if they are good on another day.
@northy Thanks for the idea. I have a special collage that I started. I put in hours of work and the images flattened out so much, that I need to start fresh with something that will give me rich results.....will follow this thread closely.....
@rockinrobyn i don't know... somewhere between 5 and 10... possibly more... there is something personal that i am extremely frustrated about and it will be very cathartic if i can pull off a humorous collage :)
I have never been thrilled with my collages, but I would recommend checking out the options on ipiccy.com bc you have fkexibilty in changing the portionality of the photos in the collage once you choose a framework .... Although I'm not 100% sure the advanced options are there for collages with five or more photos. Still, I like it more than picmonkey.com.
@northy artistically speaking they are called Album montages, collages are specifically singular composite images , being an ex art student I had that drummed into me a bit :P
@asrai tx! i was pretty sure i had the wrong term, but didn't know the right one! mind you, "album montage" sounds quite hoity toity... not sure i could use it ;D
I've done a few in photoshop. You create a blank document then add the photos as layers. It's a little fiddly but it gives you lots of flexibility.
Saying all that I've only done a couple in my 2 years!
@kiwichick yeah... the fiddlyness of photoshop makes me crazy... looks like you've got it under control, but whenever i try the spaces between the images are out of whack... and i can never get things to be evenly sized...
@peterdegraaff no - i often don't like them either... but i want to see if i can create one that works.... it will be a cathartic exercise if i can - to demonstrate the absurdity of something i am dealing with that is quite frustrating :)
I'm presuming you mean something a little more sophisticated than what picmonkey et al can give you. But here's my humorous collage entitled Childish behaviour of cameras (the day my new camera arrived!)
@tulipgirl that's soooo cute! humor is actually what i'll be aiming for if i pull this off... it's one of those "if i don't laugh, i will cry" situations ;p
The nother one I was happy with was the pelican landing...which you have also seen. http://365project.org/onie/my-favorites/2012-04-15
It would have been with Picasa I think. They are the only 2 that I use :)
@onie tx! picasa kinda makes me crazy... right up there with PSE for collages, and perhaps even more so... will have to check out picmonkey and some of the other ones mentioned above :)
@northy if your looking for a quick and easy collage to print, I've used Costco's Photo Center. I shuffle the photos until I'm happy with the end result. I like it because it can be done in landscape, as well as portrait, and you quickly learn whether you have too many or not enough photos. So, if you have Costco in your area, you might check it out. :)
These are great! I haven't done many collages but here's one of the first - called it 'through the letterbox' though it didn't turn out quite as I had planned....!
Check out this site. I think it might be a little more like what you are wanting. Click on the shapes along the top task bar and you can kind of generate a picture using your photos.
Good luck!! http://www.pizap.com/pizap.php?width=1072
I uploaded my pictures to www.picmonkey.com
I used pic monkey, again.
Created in photospills. Free collage software.

I like picmonkey.
... and for this weeks get pushed 12 where I was asked to describe my methodology.
It would have been with Picasa I think. They are the only 2 that I use :)
picmonkey is very basic, and there are a few different templates you can use, not sure if you can "design" your own page set up
@northy I think everything is better if you can get some humor out of it!
And here's mine, all done in Picassa. Which I like ok, but I wish you could drag the separators around.
