Hello everybody. A special shout-out must go to the newbies who started on 1 Jan! (I feel like a radio DJ now.) I post this topic every week at around the same time, and it's an opportunity to post your favourite photo from the previous week. So, what is your favourite photo from between 1-7 Jan?
You can post your favourite photo by copying and pasting the code from the 'Share' box that's in your photo page, together with info on when it was taken. Part of the challenge is only selecting ONE picture, so no cheating!
To start it off here's my favourite, and it's the one I took on 6 January:
Hi, I'm a noob! I've been trying to play with all of my cameras.. LOL including two terrible pictures taken with my cell, but my favorite comes down to a picture taken with my old favorite:
@carajill I love the origami pic.....Wow. I've been here about a week and stunned by the high quality of photographs and all the creative ideas. Seeing all these great shots, is pushing me to keep learning.
I only have 2 photos so far because I started the project on my birthday (Jan 6). But I like the one I took to start things off -- my birthday cupcake being guarded/coveted by my dog.
I don't feel like my pics measure up to the quality I see here; but I think this is my favorite of the week - I love the colors and it reminds me of my grandson - and makes me smile.
hmm. it's very exciting to say I'm proud of my first week and cannot wait to grow! :) I went back and forth a few times on which my favorite is ... i like each for completely different reasons ......... but for this posts sake, I'm saying "Jones" ... i love the clean simplicity of it ..
hmm, well as much as i love my cocktail/mocktail glass shot ... i like this one the best, because i learnt some new editing and did a good job on using it for the first time, and also because it was a moment, and the "moments" are why i like photography so much, i like how it makes me feel :)
I started on the 1st and the first week just flew by! It was hard to choose between the pic from Jan 4 and todays...but I will go with today :) Thinking about it now, it was a fun experience, lol
I like this mainly because it was taken by chance, I was carrying my camera, saw the kitten and took the image. If I hadn't been doing the project I probably would not have had the camera - lesson always carry your camera :-)
I'm new to this site this year but I have been doing photography for a few years. This will have to be my favorite photo so far this year because it's a shot of some of my film photography that I just love so much!
I didn't start my project until Jan 5th, but this picture is what inspired me to try it. I saw this pinecone and thought it was beautiful. It was taken on New Year's Day 2011 in Sugarloaf, California.
I think I'll pick this one cuz it's the type of shot that's fairly unusual for me. I didn't like it at all at first as I was struggling with the setup and getting frustrated. But after time away from I've come to be rather like the results after all!
this one. it was my first use of HDR and i've taken loads of underground mirrors looking down corridors but i like this the best, has a real abstract feel to it
This is the outer corridor of the Wintergardens in Auckland, New Zealand taken on the 3rd Jan 2011. They were commissioned in the early 1900's so are nearly 100 years old
Ok Newbie and trying to do this with a very crappy camera so have to be bit creative in the future. Took this on the 7th - was just a very peaceful feeling
@vikdaddy I'm a newbie and tx for this initiative this post shows that the quality on 365Project is amazing. My own favourite photo for week 1 was taken on 5th.
My first upload...I love this picture of my husband...Last year was a horrible year for us(nasty separation) and I love that I can look at this picture with love, and that after 18 years I still swoon when I see him.
Hi everyone! My name is Wendy and I am new here! I started January 1st and have fallen in love with this project right from the start. My favorite photo from the first week would be this picture of my 7 year old son. I titled it "When I dream I can touch the stars".
Hard choice this week. I loved both of my bench shots and the one has been very popular with people on this site, but I think I have to pick this one instead as my favorite. From the 5th.
rarely plan out and set up photos, dont think i have ever done a selfie like that but i am happy with this one i did for the blue theme. great shots everybody! @eliserose781 i love those colors!
This week is hard to decide. I feel like I had a good week. Do you guys go through phases as well? I think I am going to pick one that wasn't very popular, but I worked very hard on it and learn quite a bit from doing it.
This was taken on my way home. I pulled over to watch the rain hit my window and saw how the lights change shape as the water moved around. I wanted to see what it looked like as a picture.
I love this one.
The boat already appeared in my project with the the workers in the park in their daily cleaning of the lake. This time the cat is the captain.
I am new to this and not nearly as good as the rest of you. But I did want to post my favorite from the week so I can get some some constructive feedback from everyone.
This isn't my best picture, but I think it's the most interesting one. The light from the computer screen in the exam room makes the left lens look like it's focused on an outside window with blue sky.
I took this on January 3rd, the result of a kitchen experiment with a flashlight and a potted poinsettia. I still can't believe how well it turned out!
This was my first week doing the project (and I love it!). I am in no way a professional, but its fun to try out the different settings.
Here is my most patient model, although she is clearly fed up with the camera in her face :)
Ok, so it isn't the greatest photograph, but these simple things help identify who I am and what I do. And, I think that I do really make a difference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2epnJJTGjM
Jan 6 - Iwas getting ready for a day of photoshoots and had to squeeze out a few smash cakes in a pinch! I didnt know if I would have time to take a photo, so I let my creatvie juices get flowing and came up with this.
I joined the 365 project on December 31st. I have learned so much during the past week. This is my favorite photo because I like taking nature photos the best. I like the reflection of the trees in the window. I posted a few photos of blue glassware this week. This was the first time I had ever done that. I was surprised by the depth of the color I could get in the glassware shots. The blue theme for this week really has helped me branch out. Thanks!
I took it at work, it's the old outdated lights on the discarded Christmas tree I set up in the new building. The old building got brand new decorations, trees set up in both lobbys. While my building (I'm the only girl, working with older, ex-linemen) got nothing. I salvaged the lonely tree and decorating the building with my own decorations. I how the colours turned out in this picture, and I added a warm glow to give it a vintage glow.
I took this pic last night... I'm a newbie to the site and doing this as a challenge to see what interesting pics I can take. I just love the way this looked, and it tasted just as good.
This picture was dedicated to my girlfriend, now "ex girlfriend" as of January 5th.
I took this picture on January 3rd on my snow trip I went to for the first time since last year. I hope this had some meaning in it...
Because not everyone does this and it's tre kool and just so much fun - apart from the embers burning and the 'danger' of it ... but that's my middle name (or one of them lol)
Well, when you just join a project and the first day the theme is blue and you just happen to take your camera along to buy a lottery ticket and look up and see this....awesome!! It was a fun week. I am excited for more!
I really enjoy the chipped nail polish and the dirty fingernails. This project has been making me even more aware of the little things I see in the lives of children (I'm a teacher).
Had fun setting this shot up and also learned that snipping a needle doesn't make it dull - still will puncture skin. The things we do in the name of creativity :).
I love my daughters look of delight in this picture, she's always enjoyed watching kites and thinks it's wonderful she's got her own big girl's kite now.
Well when I first joined it was actually 1/7 and I did not quite understand the concept yet so my first 7 pictures were not from this year. But I still have favorites :) I like this one best and have gotten the most comments on threads and stuff... I think the story behind it is what actually draws people.
It's hard to resist things that are bright red and shiny- even better when there is an incredible and inspiring story behind it- Amelia Earhart's Lockheed Vega 5b
New to 365 and loving it. My fave would be this one... my boys mucking about in the Summer thunderstorm. Very weird weather here right this year so far.
@kennyhawkins Go to the picture in your project you want to use, down on the right hand side you'll see 'share' with a code in the box, right click, copy then paste into the
write a reply box here.
I just added this one to January 1st, but I took it late in the day on the 7th and had already uploaded a different picture for that day. This is my son playing the role of Rockstar :P
Jan 5th's pic. I didn't even mean to take it, I had laid down in the wrong spot, meant to get my eyes. But I love happy accidents, and this is one of my favorites ever:
This is my favorite so far. I only have my iphone to take photos for now. Hopefully, I have a better understanding of taking good photos by the end of this project. :)
I started on January 1st and this was my photo taken that day, in my daughters room. I'm not yet practiced in editing, so this is straight out of the camera.
WOw, AMAZING pics as usual this week everyone!!!
This is my favorite... I just got a new camera last week, a Nikon D90, it's my first SLR, so I am super-excited to graduate from point and click! This is from my first attempt at a photo session.... We had an amazing pink and blue sunset Friday evening, and it was 75 degrees! So I stuck the baby outside and let her have it!
I think this was my favorite- I was having a really really hard day, after finding out a good friend had attempted suicide. It fit how i was feeling, although it might not make a whole lot of sense.
So many reasons I like this one, from the speed with which I had to draw the faces on as it had been a busy day, to having to be really delicate as my kids had borrowed my Sharpies so I had to use a needle-nose pen. The fact so many people have said it made them smile works too...

ending my first week with a fav

This is a photo from one of my first days back to school after Christmas break. I was working with one of my Reading Recovery students...
on my calendar it's somewhere in December 2010, but I took this only a day ago.. so that would make it Jan 6th for me.
For this week:
@conners That is just the sweetest thing!
I just love the frost design
I've been working on snowflake shots for a while and this is one I am proud of.

Amazing.....
great shot....loving the background colours you have used...
reminds me of Saul Leiter when I see this....Lovely...
this one. it was my first use of HDR and i've taken loads of underground mirrors looking down corridors but i like this the best, has a real abstract feel to it
This is the outer corridor of the Wintergardens in Auckland, New Zealand taken on the 3rd Jan 2011. They were commissioned in the early 1900's so are nearly 100 years old
I was so lucky to get that shot with her constantly moving!
My first upload...I love this picture of my husband...Last year was a horrible year for us(nasty separation) and I love that I can look at this picture with love, and that after 18 years I still swoon when I see him.
I took this on 6th Jan after a morning of heavy rain. I tried to get the drip to fall but was not fast enough to capture it.
I have been taking photos since i was little and so far, out of like...a million photos i took, this is by far my best shot.
The boat already appeared in my project with the the workers in the park in their daily cleaning of the lake. This time the cat is the captain.
I am new to this and not nearly as good as the rest of you. But I did want to post my favorite from the week so I can get some some constructive feedback from everyone.

This was my first week doing the project (and I love it!). I am in no way a professional, but its fun to try out the different settings.
Here is my most patient model, although she is clearly fed up with the camera in her face :)
My last Diet Coke of the year as I'm trying to give it up altogether.
I love the grain of the wood... for some reason I think it makes the photo way more interesting.
My second day into the project, first picture taken after joining.
By far my favorite
Taken Jan 6.
My first week of the project. This is a typical cold, Canadian winter day. Added an antique layer for an old look and to create a lonely feeling.
I thought this came out better than expected. I was just playing around with zooming while I was in traffic.
The first sunrise of the new year (Myrtle Beach SC)

Not exactly a fly, but I was pretty chuffed to get this shot.

Salt and pepper shaker.

My favorite is this one because I didn't have to beg for it.
My favourite because I was trying for the flowers and got a surprise bonus!
I like this one because the sunset was so calming
:>
I just love how the shape of trees look during sunset.
I absolutely love this one!
The setting is stunning.
I took this on January 1st to start out my first 365 project.
My favorite because I love the rich gold cast the light was putting off and I'm a big fan of shadows.
I am a newbie and as amatuer as they get. This is my favorite because of the smile on my dogs face. No editing on this..
My 1-6 pictures were terrible, so I just went with the one from the 7th (:
