My day started brilliantly with cards and presents, a lovely breakfast at our B&B and even a piano serenade of Happy Birthday from our host Mike. We had decided to walk to the top of Arthur's Seat - an extinct volcano towering over the city.
Things went a bit pear shaped then. We managed to reach the peak and I enjoyed about 10 minutes of the view before slipping and managing to break my fall by hitting the rock with my face. Poor Colin, I was gushing blood everywhere and I rather ruined my Berghaus jacket and Craghopper trousers by bleeding all over them.
We made it back down again but unfortunately even after a cup of tea and homemade shortbread back at our B&B my nose has been quite bad for the rest of the afternoon so no more sightseeing and this stunning sunset which I had hoped to photograph behind the castle was enjoyed from our room!
You'll all be relieved to learn that as I went down I managed to flick my camera back so that the lens-hood took the force and that sacrifice seems to have saved my camera and 24-70mm lens!!
A gorgeous shot and a fav, but what a shame that had to happen on your birthday! Might it have been a good idea to seek medical help? Not sure if I should say "Happy Birthday" but I say it anyway. Glad you managed to protect your camera. I managed to save mine from damage when I fell last winter and broke my ankle. At least that is something.
