10th May 2015

Another day, another event, this time it was Chestnut Sunday at Bushy Park. It is always held on the second Sunday in May to celebrate the Horse Chestnut ‘candles’ in Chestnut Avenue.

The day starts with a parade at 12.30 when the Park is closed to traffic for an hour. City of London Police horses lead the parade of vintage cars, military vehicles, old bikes, re-enactment actors, cyclists and motorbikes to name but a few. The parade continues along Chestnut Avenue and then parks on the grass alongside many marquees and tents with a whole variety of things to see. Last year I photographed the then Mayor of Richmond Meena Bond on a Harley Davidson - http://365project.org/emmadurnford/2014-365-projec/2014-05-11. This year it was a display of birds of prey that we were interested in and in particular this Great Grey Owl who really has the most amazing face.
Wonderful shot Emma. Fav.

Beautiful portrait. I don't know what he's trying to say, but he definitely has a very expressive face.
