Hester and Brian regularly run up Pen-y-Ghent which can be seen from the back of their house. As we are not nearly as fit we settled for walking up.
It was a beautiful day and the views were spectacular. The lower walk was quite easy but the last ascent up to the trig point was more of a scramble. Hester had done very well in preparing tea and coffee in flasks with snacks for us and the dogs… or rather they begged for ours! There were quite a few people at the top and it took much longer going back down to avoid slipping.
It is a great walk to have direct from their house and our footsteps were up to 17,982 by the end of the day. I declined Brian’s offer to accompany him back up for a run later in the day on his return from work. He did the same circuit in well less than an hour - it took us over 3 hours!
