This room is so comfortable! I watched lots of birds eating the crab apples from little tree in front of our window - blackbirds, robins, blue tits, magpies and a dunnock. Sadly we had to pack ready to leave but enjoyed breakfast first. Full English for Colin and poached eggs on crushed avocado and sour bread with chilli oil for me - delicious. The night was not cheap but it really feels like a proper break away from home and all the noise.
It was a beautiful day so we drove to the Vyne (a National Trust place so we could use our membership cards!). I don’t think Ive been there before and it was lovely in the autumn colours and we were forced to stop for a pot of tera and a flapjack.
We were still full after our breakfast so afterwards we drove to Newbury to look at the canals. I was really surprised as I had read that Newbury is a little market town and it was close to where I was born and brought up. In the event it was actually quite drab, full of pubs and vaping shops. The only good thing was that I was Abe to buy some cheap crackers ready for the Christmas event I am organising for my photo club next month.
