1 year, 348 since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020
This morning I delivered cards to the Landmark and sadly said goodbye to Francesca who has worked there for three years now. Over the years we have got to know each other and she is really nice. She gave me the low down on her reasons for leaving and she is really sad and I couldn’t even give her a hug due to being Covid careful. I hope we will keep in touch when she moved to her new job at the Petersham Hotel. I actually went out in a T-shirt without a coat as it was so warm - unseasonably warm at about 18 degrees - this could be our summer weather for the year!
After the last bit of packing and weighing our luggage very carefully (we have read the warnings about Norwegian Air!), we went to Piazza Firenze for a larger lunch as we will not be having dinner this evening as we are checking into the Premier Inn at Gatwick to avoid early morning dramas with traffic and commuters. A very nice two course set lunch followed by a shared adffogato.
I waited until I could get the check in details of the apartment in Bergen released just 24 hours in advance of our stay and then we realised we were just sitting around and so we decided to leave early. I had downgraded my usual hand luggage to my rucksack and had to wear my snow boots and arctic warm jacket on what has turned out to be the warmest day of the year so far. A fairly uneventful journey walking to the station and then catching the train to Clapham Junction and then down to Gatwick and then taking the shuttle to the North Terminal.
The Premier Inn was very busy in reception but I seemed to circumvent the queues and managed to check in online very quickly. We enjoyed sandwiches and a Danish for a light dinner!
