Back to Richmond today for snow and sunshine photographs - sunshine being somewhat of a novelty at the moment.
As I walked down from Richmond Hill through the Terrace Gardens I noticed lots of squirrels foraging for food. I crept up on them, hoping not to disturb them... well as one tried to climb my leg looking for snacks I realised it was not going to be too much of a problem to photograph them! The main issue was to try and keep them in the sun for that magic ‘catchlight’ in the eye and to sit still for a moment in a natural pose.
@blincodave@kmrtn6 Thank you all, I know that Grey Squirrels are classed as vermin but I am actually quite fond of them and only felt sorry that I did not have any snacks at all to give them after such a good performance! @barrowlane - definitely, I took about 20 in total and have yet to decide which will work best in the square format that I have my Christmas cards printed in (general greeting cards are 5x7" so I like to have a different format) :-)
what a little poser......I have a love hate with squirrels locally who generally try to move into our attic every now and then.......but he does look cute........!!
Oohh! What more could you ask for. You live in such a rich animal environment and you are documenting it so beautifully. I agree - even tho an animal or bird or insect is common, they have their own appeal and uniqueness as do any other so called uncommon ones. They are worthy of their time in the limelight. Posing on the stump - a model in the making.
