24th January 2013

I’ve been in all day working on paperwork and sending emails in preparation for our trip away so photographic inspiration for me was pretty limited today.

However, our Walnut tree has helped me again! As yesterdays image looked almost monotone I decided to deliberately make todays black and white to show the shape of the tree. I also like the sky that is finally showing some texture rather than the ‘flat snow’ sky we have had for over a week. The weather is due to warm up (well rise above 5-degrees) at the weekend so I think this is the first sign of changes to come. Unfortunately there is a house behind which I wanted to avoid in shot so I have not got the full canopy of the tree.
the contract between the sky and foreground works well, I think using B&W and limiting the tones in the image is just right.

It stands very stark against that bleak sky. Nicely done!

@whdphotog @steampowered thank you both, it was a bit of a desperation shot but I quite like the textured sky!
