This is Klong Lad Mayom floating market (one of my favourite sort of places to photograph) in the Province of Bangkok, about an hour from the city itself.
The market is open at the weekend and mainly sells food both cooked (for lunch) and also an array of fruit and vegetables for people to take home. There are very few ‘farang’ (foreigners) here and the fact we ate in the market and tried lots of snacks made us an intriguing sight for the locals - the tables were turned on us in terms of who was watching who.
Light conditions were challenging here as there is often strong light and then many shadows from awnings and trees. This shot was taken from a rickety bamboo bridge which gave a more interesting viewpoint onto the market trader. I always find it fascinating that hot coal and wood stoves are being used on wooden boats - a bit of an H&S contradiction?!
