3rd September 2013

This is just part of our haul of walnuts this year... a haul that we will not get to eat any of!

As with every other year, the squirrels have arrived in teams and are gradually removing all the walnuts by nibbling them, burying them and simply throwing them on the floor (or at us).

I had hoped to post a photograph of the guilty parties but they have been a bit camera shy today with their dyed black paws and fronts. So, as we prepare for another trip abroad, I will look at this photograph and think of what might have been!
Oh them darn pesky creatures! How can you stop them? Throw incendiary bombs at them?

@maggiemae Ha! ha! Thats what the husband wants to do. Like your squirrels, ours are greys and non-native. The lovely reds are very rare and nowhere in the south of the country apart from on Brownsea island. One actually stopped to stare at me on his way down the trunk (needless to say no camera on me) and he really was dyed black, he looked like he had black gloves on - little blighter!

Oh the challenge to get those little critters. Where are you off to? Love the shades of green. A lovely spot to sit under and read.

Great teamwork by the squirrels. Glad you at least got to photograph the nuts before they're all gone, if not those pesky squirrels. At least you are contributing to their winter rations.

Smashing shot. I am sure that the squirrels are grateful really.
