My husband was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and his parents lived there most of their lives. None of them quite understood my fascination with the colonial homes they had grown up with. But on July 4, 1985, my father-in-law took me on a tour of Old Towne, describing the houses and letting me take photos. This is not a great photo and may have been taken with a Kodak Instamatic. The memory is priceless!
