I shot these beautiful red oriental maple leaves on my mother's property this morning after completing storm preparations there. I missed a bit on the focus -- it was already a bit windy.
The "Frankenstorm" is fast approaching with high winds beginning around midnight and expected to last 2-3 days. It is best described as a hurricane within a Nor'easter and measures 900 miles across. Connecticut has declared a state of emergency along with 8 other states in anticipation of severe coastal flooding and widespread power outages. New York City is closing the entire subway system for this storm. We are not directly on the waterfront, thankfully, but do not expect to escape the storm's wrath. Cross your fingers.
I'm so afraid you're going to find these lovely leaves gone after this monster passes through. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you're not affected by power outages. Keep us updated when you can.
