Such a pretty Monarch - hadn't seen this bush before - Glad your butterflies like it - I've written it down to see if it will grow down here. Your wonderful detail show that he hasn't had a very hard summer. Our butterflies are looking pretty beat up!
I went to the Amsterdam Botanical gardens yesterday (without the camera unfortunately) and was enchanted with their small but wonderful butterfly room! I saw a couple of butterflies laying eggs, another, dying, caterpillars munching leaves... all the various stages in an open area. Nothing forced. Incredibly interesting. You got a perfect shot of this fellow.
