I really appreciate 365 and its' community that allows me to learn as I go. This is my first ever focus stacking shot that I did with pink ribbon. It is about 2 cm (less than an inch) thick and a stack of nine photos.
It was an interesting exercise.

The first attempt is never what I want but it is a good learning opportunity and teaches me what to do to make it better next time.
I record it here for posterity even though the result is less than ideal.

Well, I don't even know what exposure stacking is. Add that to what I have been learning at 365. I've been challenged to try techniques that I've never heard of.
I like how you have some in and some out of focus. We did focus stacking for photo club last week. Terribly painful for me as I waited for photoshop to finish what it was doing, sometimes it even froze during the process. I'm glad that you tried it. will you do it again?

I do find the first time I do something very painful - but then it does get better the next time.
It is the out of focus areas here that are driving me nuts. Everything is supposed to be in focus!
I know what I did wrong (my focal planes were too far apart - I need to have more photos in the stack)
So next time I will (God willing - lol!) do better!
I think in a situation like this you have to take more photos so you can get all the areas into focus. The more photos you use, the longer it takes to process them, but can result in some beautiful results.
