Snickelway 2 by fishers

Snickelway 2

This is a small "cut through" or snickelway between York's Newgate Market looking towards themost famous street in York, The Shambles. I use this snickelway often but never really noticed the timber framing before, perhaps because I normally walk between The Shambles and the market rather than this way round.I find this project is making me look at the things I take for granted with new eyes.
I agree. The project does make you look at things with new eyes. Love this capture.

@padlock There is so much of York that makes me ask that question. These will have seen a good amount given their age. Katharine

@purplehaze12 I suppose its location ensures that it is kept tidy. I'm just surprised I got a shot without people as The Shambles is so popular with visitors. Katharine

@ruthmouch I expect I will say or think this many times over the next year. Katharine

@pyrrhula @malc The timbers cry out to be touched and frequently are - not just by me. They are really silky. Katharine

@dolphin Thank you. I use some snickelways without thinking when I am shopping so its a change to notice their characteristics. katharine

@rossevs @rhos York has so much history and fortunately many physical reminders of various periods. Living here we tend to forget especially as we no longer have to help with school projects! Katharine

@bkbinthecity I love the accessibility of the timbers, I may need to try taking a closer look at them. Katharine
