Just behind the bus station in Sheffield is the oldest domestic building in the city. The building is thought to date from 1475, and it was part of the 6th Earl of Shrewsbury's estate where they possibly held banquets for hunters. A pub was opened next to it in 1840, and some time after 1862 it expanded into the timber framed building.
This is our first post using sepia colour editing - I like the effect better than black and white for this particular photo, because the building is black and white to start with so it loses depth without some colour! - Lucy
Wow that is just lovely. I went to some pubs like this when I was over there a couple of years ago. I wish I was there now. My man is in the UK for a couple of weeks telling me all about the lovely summer and now I'm wishing I was there with him :( I love English pubs (not that keen on the warm beer though!) :)
The sepia really works for this photo. You're lucky to have your history and buildings to go back so far in time. America is just a youngster compared to you guys.
