Katharine and I had a walk into York city centre, and walked back by the riverside paths - a nice change now the river is back within it's normal channel.
A recent addition to the city is the 'Star Inn the City'. Well known throughout the area is the 'Star Inn' at Harome, some miles to the north-east of the city, in and housed in a thatched roof building. The owners have now established themselves here in York beside the river, in an uncompromisingly modern building on the left of this shot.
To the right of this is an attractive brick building that was once part of York waterworks.
Overlooking the scene are the towers of York Minster and St Wilfred's Church, so here in this scene we have buildings dating from the 13th century up to 2013.
this is a beautiful blend of the centuries... even though the building styles are pretty different, I still find the overall effect is very harmonious! Beautiful capture, well spotted scene!
Thank you Rose - I think the mixture of old and new architecture works quite well here.
