The Gates of Parkhead Hall? Parkhead House? The Woodlands?
I found these splendid gates while on a short walk around the Eccelsall Road South area, near St. Luke's Hospice in Sheffield. The view from the gates gave a glimpse of the house which is surrounded by a high wall.
The house was constructed in 1864 - 65 by the architect John Brightmore Mitchell-Withers (1838-1894) for his own use. It was originally named The Woodlands and has also been known as Parkhead House and Parkhead Hall.
These gates have been the entrance to: a family home; an RAF Balloon Command Centre; Business Headquaters; Home for the Elderly and back to a family home. It is currently up for sale, if you have a few million pounds to spare!
A beautiful capture of this beautiful gates . Thanks for telling/explain the interesting history. Reminds me on a pic. I took of a gate near us with
nothing more left. The old castle/house where it was the entrance to is gone in time.
Thank you for you nice comment and the fav.
