Well, I'm back in York and have begun the process of sorting out the large number of photos taken while visiting Lucy in Paris.
On Monday, Lucy and I visited Parc des Buttes Chaumont, in the north-eastern part of Paris. The park was opened in 1861, and has a number of notable features. Perhaps the most famous is the Temple de la Sibylle, inspired by the Temple of Vesta in Tivoli, Italy. It is perched at the top of a cliff fifty metres above the waters of an artificial lake.
The feature I've chosen to show you is the grotto and its waterfall, an artificial creation in the remains of the limestone and gypsum quarries which once occupied the site.
Lucy has already included a shot of the stalagmites at the foot of the waterfall ( http://365project.org/fishers/365/2014-03-06) but I wanted to show the waterfall entering the rear of the cave, and the way the cave entrance frames it.
The whole park is a place of beauty and variety, well away from the normal tourist trail, but well worth a visit.
You certainly got out and about whilst you were staying with Lucy. I really like the way the waterfall is framed by the rocks, and the light coming in in the background.
Thank you Hazel - glad you've enjoyed Paris. It certainly inspired my photography, and it's going to take weeks to sort out all the photos that I took!
Thank you Molly - our holidays have always been intense and we've fitted in visits to as much as we can - we often need a holiday to recover from our holidays!
Thank you Graham - there is so much to see there!
