The Enceladus Grove - Versailles by fishers

The Enceladus Grove - Versailles

I know that between us, me, mum and dad have posted loads of pics of Versailles. But we're returning there again since I was lucky enough to go on a day when the water fountains were working. This one was my favourite, sculpted in lead by Gaspard Marsy between 1675 and 1677. It depicts the myth of the fall of the Titans who were buried under the rocks of Mount Olympus which they tried to climb in defiance of Jupiter. Here we see a giant half buried under the rocks and in the throes of death. - Lucy
