Ashmoleum Museum, Oxford by fishers

Ashmoleum Museum, Oxford

My final full day with Louise and Nigel and their family, and since both Louise and Nigel were working, I took myself off on a trip to the Ashmoleum Museum in Oxford.

Although I've been to Oxford before, I've never previously taken the opportunity to visit this superb museum. I was particularly impressed by their collection of Roman sculptures, but I chose this rather attractive model to share with you.

It's a model of the monument to the composer Handel, made by Louis- Francois Roubiliac for Westminster Abbey. The monument was paid for by Handel himself, through a bequest in his will. This model is made of terracotta and plaster of Paris.
