York Residents Festival has been taking place this weekend, with free or reduced price admission to many of York’s attractions. It’s a great opportunity to visit places I haven’t been to before, and I took a huge number of shots in different places. I had intended to share one of these new places with you, but after visiting the Minster I thought I would share a shot of its interior, following my shot of the exterior last month ( http://365project.org/fishers/365/2015-01-23).
My purpose in visiting the Minster was to look around the undercroft, where there is a display of the history of the site where the Minster now stands. There are Roman artefacts from the Principia (headquarters building) found during major building work in the 1960s and 1970s, when new foundations were built under the Minster to prevent its collapse. There are also artefacts from earlier churches on the site, as well as information about the current life and work of the Minster.
However, following my look around the undercroft, as I wandered around the rest of the building I spotted this view along an aisle, with its lovely light, and the human figures emphasising the scale of this small part of the building.
An early post today, since the Residents Festival continues, and there are more places to visit!
Thank you all, it's great to hear from you! It was also good to visit the Minster - a building that I love, but only rarely visit.
