Another shot from York city walls, and this one involved a bit of a dash. I spotted the hot air baloon rising, but the view was badly obstructed by trees, so a quick dash along the wall walkway until I came to this view with the baloon between an array of chimneys and the spire of St Wilfrids Church.
I presume the baloon was launched from York racecourse. At one time such launches were a daily event for anyone willing to pay for a flight, but these seem less frequent now.
This baloon carries Virgin branding. The other regular baloon had Kit Kat branding.
Thank you all for your kind and generous comments, it is nice to hear from you all.
It would be fascinating to see York laid out before me from one of these baloon flights, but I'm not sure I could cope with hanging below a hot air baloon in a giant wicker basket! It is an impressive sight to be at York racecourse to see one of these baloons being launched. The first time I saw a take-off when close to it, I was amased at how big the baloon was, and how quickly it rose into the air.
