This window in Bradford Cathedral is a memorial to the 6th Battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment, and it was created by Archibald J Davis of Bromsgrove in 1921.
The central panel has the figure of a mortally wounded soldier on the battlefield, with the crucifiction of Jesus Christ above him. Below the soldier is the badge of his battalion, between two graves of other soldiers.
The large panel either side of this shows the history of the 6th Battalion, with details of the various battles that they had been involved in.
The upper panes show the saints and other symbols of the many countries that fought with Britain in the first world war.
I've been moved in recent days by the various photos posted for the ANZAC memorial day - I thought this appropriate to complement those.
Wow, I'm thrilled to find that this shot made it to the popular page - thank you for all your comments and favs that got it there!
Sorry I've missed seeing your photos over the last couple of days - I've been in an internet free zone at my mum's house after she had a hospital outpatient's appointment on Thursday. I will be catching up with you all quite soon.
