Rowntree Park Reading Cafe, York by fishers

Rowntree Park Reading Cafe, York

Still in Rowntree Park, the building in this shot recently reopened as a Reading Cafe, under the Explore York Libraries and Archives Trust. There are over 1000 books that members can borrow, and the cafe has an excellent balcony with views over the park.

The building was originally constructed as the park keeper's house, hence the reason for the great views over the park. I'm adding this building to my list of possible locations for recording flooding in York, since this park has been flooded numerous times in the past, and this building is accessible from roads which would be above flood level.

What a very nice house for the park keeper. Nice too that it's now open to the public.

Well, thank you all for your comments and favs for this shot, which put it on the Popular page!

I can't claim to have used this cafe yet, but as I passed, it was very busy, which suggests it's very popular with the locals (this park is a bit off the normal tourist trail in York, which is why I think its locals using it).
