Another notable statue in the town centre of Blackburn is that of politician William Ewart Gladstone (1809 – 1898), who was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom between 1868-74, 1880-85, 1886, and 1892-94, giving a total of four terms in office, more than any other person, and he was also the oldest UK Prime Minister during his last term, at the age of 84.
I read about Gladstone in our English History books when I was a boy. And I know he was Prime Minister but that is all that I can remember now. Beautiful shot. I like the dark blue sky in the background.

This statue is just one of many statues and sculptures in the centre of Blackburn. I had an impression of Blackburn as a run down industrial town - I was wrong.
