Sitting on a nest by fishers

Sitting on a nest

Sorry for the late post, but Katharine and I have had a day out. More details of our adventures in the next few days when we post photos from our trip.

Today another shot from Rowntree Park in York, and here we have a Coot sat on it's nest near a small island in the middle of the pond.

Sadly we have rather too much of the wrong wildlife in the park, with large numbers of Canada Geese and Graylag Geese leaving huge amounts of mess and degrading the quality of the park.

Great picture of the coot's nest and reflection of it. I had to smile, Ian. Any of our parks with even the smallest amount of water are packed with Canada Geese and you know the rest of it.

Wow that's a nest. Is she expecting a large family!

Gosh, yes - I remember the huge numbers of Canada Geese in that park and the mess they made. Not fun. Well done the coot for bagging a spot!

I guess you cannot have all the cake and eat it, Ian. You have the wild life to enjoy but you have to bear the consequence of their presence. We have little wild life and nothing to clean after them.

Thank you all for your comments and fav, they are very much appreciated.

I should add that I'm more than happy to see wildlife in the park, but the problem with Canada Geese and Graylag Geese is the massive waste problem that they leave behind - they are very prolific waste producers!
