Weeping Willow by fishers

Weeping Willow

So, today I spent some time exploring a small part of York that I have never visited before. This is Railway Pond in Dringhouses, one of four ponds that once existed in the area, and which were the by-product of the brick making industry.

This pond belonged to British Rail, the nationalised railway company, until a large area of railway land was sold for housing development in 1985. Fortunately the developers retained and enhanced the area around the pond as part of the housing development.
