Two of the footbridges over railway lines in York have been plagued by graffiti for some time, despite various attempts by Network Rail to get rid of it.
The latest idea has been to employ an artist to decorate the bridges and hope that the graffiti artists leave the new decorations alone.
This is the second bridge to be treated, with an NHS and flowers theme.
This bridge is to the north of York station and crosses the railway from York to Scarborough, linking Scarborough Terrace and Bridge Lane.
The upper part of one of the hospital buildings can be seen at the top right of this shot.
Sadly the artwork on the first bridge to be treated ( http://365project.org/fishers/365/2021-03-24 ) has already had a visit from graffiti artists and a section of it painted over. Te artwork did hav an anti paint coating over it, so hopefully it will be possible to remove the graffiti and restore the artwork to view.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I suspect this artwork may well survive. The NHS is held in high regard by many, and even more so because of the way they have handled the Covid-19 pandemic. It would take a brave tagger to vandalise this!
