Sorry for the later than normal post today, but I've just got back from having my second Covid-19 vaccination. It is an interesting journey to the vaccination centre, which is around 4 miles from where we live, but which involves two buses in each direction, so I allowed lots of time, and ended up there early. They gave me my vaccine early and then I had an even faster trip home, catching both buses without a wait.
Back to today's photo and another glimpse of York city walls. Access to the city walls is almost always by a flight of stairs, and these covered stairs are at Monk Bar.
They have always been a point of congestion on the walls walk, with the stairs too narrow to pass people going in the opposite direction. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the whole walls walk has been changed to a one way system, to reduce contact with others.
I wasn't breaking the rules here and ignoring the 'No Entry' signs painted on the steps. I had just descended them and turned for this shot before going out into the open air.
Rather surprisingly, the vast majority of people are observing the one way system, making it safer for all who are using the walls walk.
Love the steps; however, kind of sad they were defaced with the No Entry signs. Looks like they could have put a sign on a pedestal to ward people off of them. Hopefully, the steps will not be damaged when/if the paint is removed. Congratulations on being fully vaccinated. I had a feeling of such relief with each shot and a sense of freedom after my two weeks were up--although we still practice mask wearing and social distancing.
Great shot of this beautiful acient steps. Fav.
Congrats with you second vacination. I`ve them too.
(Think it`s a joke of nature. Twice would be expensive. )
Beautiful staircase, I agree with Donna I can’t believe they spray-painted the staircase! Surely they could’ve come up with a better way of showing the direction of travel.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I agree with those of you who didn't like the no entry signs painted on the steps, that don't enhance the view, but they do deter people from ignoring the one way system currently in place on the wall walk.
Sorry for my absence yesterday, I was feeling quite exhausted after my Covid-19 jab on Monday.
