This shot is a view showing more of the buildings on the Helmsley Castle site, taken from one of the defensive banks around the castle. The tower on the left is the east tower shown in yesterdays shot.
The range on the right are mainly more recent buildings (only around 400-450 years old! They contain fascinating displays of castle life.
The defensive ditch below this west range can't be seen very clearly due to the growth of vegetation there, but it is of considerable depth, much of it cut through rock, so it would have been a major task to excavate.
Super capture of the Castle...The amount of work, inner fortitude, and time it must have taken to build these castles hundreds of years ago is something to ponder.
beautiful architecture of this castle. wow!

Our country was only discovered about 400 years ago, let alone buildings of this magnitude. Now you can understand why I value your history and architecture

I’m missing my trips to the UK, nothing like exploring and some amazing history.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
There will be more views of heritage sites in the coming months, since Katharine and I recently joined English Heritage.
