Transformers

Sometimes when travelling you come across the most surprising things. On a bus journey through Layerthorpe in York I spotted these figures outside the 'Inner Space Stations' Self Storage site, and a few days later I just had to go for a walk and investigate - after all it isn't every day that you come face to face with a couple of larger than life Transformers.

According to the Hasbro Transformers website 'Transformers are living, human-like robots with the unique ability to turn into vehicles or beasts. The stories of their lives, their hopes, their struggles, and their triumphs are chronicled in epic sagas that span an immersive and exciting universe where everything is More Than Meets the Eye'.

My older grandson used to love these, so I had to contact him to discover more. It seems the yellow and black figure is called 'Bumblebee' and the blue and black one is called 'Optimus Prime'. There are six films and a collection of toys associated with the franchise, and I was impressed to see how one of the toy figures could be changed with a few twists and folds from a figure into a vehicle. Someone had great fun designiing these!

I still wonder why they would be found outside a self storage site in York. This isn't the end of the story though - a garage on the edge of York has a collection of large Dr Who figures on its roof, though sadly I haven't any recent photos of them.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.

I will be going to get photos of the Dr Who characters at some point, but it does take a while to get there, so it isn't likely to be very soon. We are currently in the midst of work on our home, with a new heating boiler, removal of gas fire and gas cooker and a new electric cooker, so not too much time for photos at the moment.
