Stained Glass by fishers

Stained Glass

Another modern feature of the Merchant Taylors Hall in York is this commemorative stained glass window. It was created by local stained glass artist Helen Whittaker of Barley Studio in Dunnington.

The design incorporates the Coat of Arms of the Company of Merchant Taylors of York. The Coat of Arms is depicted as if sewn on silk, with the surrounding fabric flowing across the remaining glazing and into smaller flanking windows either side of this main panel.

The Anniversary dates 1415-2015 are shown embroidered in gold thread below the coat of arms, with a silver needle finishing the stitching.

I was fortunate that we had sunshine to highlight the details in this window.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.

There were quite a few coats of arms, made in a variety of materials, and each one an impressive piece of work.

@pusspup I haven't quite worked out the significance of the camels!
