This small but pleasant green space in the heart of York has recently been renovated. New grass has been laid, along with an upgrade to the tree lined path on the left of the shot. Some new trees have been planted beside the path, and additional seating provided. Stone blocks in the grassed area provide further seating. Wildflower seeds have been planted around both old and new trees.
The old sundial is still there, and the backdrop of York Minster and St William's College (featured yesterday) is still there. The massive east window of the Minster has undergone restoration, which took around 10 years to complete, and which means the stained glass can now be seen in all its glory.
So much history in such a small area. We are privileged to live so close to such a place.
Beautiful shot nicely framed by the tree branches. I still like the collage best with its timbered first floor best. I find these half-timbered buildings so fascinating.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I was fortunate to live in the red brick house next to St William's College, just after I finished my time as a student. I had a room on the top floor for a couple of months. It was quite an experience to live in the busy heart of the city.
We are fortunate to have so many timber framed buildings in York. They make a great subject for photos. At one time it was fashonable to cover the front of these buildings with a brick wall, hiding its origins, and there are still some hidden timber framed buildings in the city.
Steady on there - my ego will become far too inflated with comments like yours! I'm just fortunate to have such a great place and so many different old buildings to take photos of.

York may be an old favourite for you, but there seems to be quite a lot of change taking place at the moment, with more planned.

Thank you Vesna, I'm pleased that you like it.
