Money Plant. by gamelee

Money Plant.

I've owned a flash gun for a few years, but hardly ever use it. So in an attempt to learn how to use it, especially for more creative shots, I used it outside today. This shot was taken with the flash gun held in one hand and camera held in the other. The wind was very strong blowing the plant around quite a bit. I used a 50mm lens it hasn't got image stabilisation. There's a lot to learn about flash photography!
Just getting into flash photography myself - there is a lot to it, but the best way to learn is experiment. Just keep trying. Some of the effects can be quite startling, and some can be quite subtle.

looks lamost metalic! ~ I love the lighting

I have one of these flash guns, I use it, but have absolutely no idea what I am doing with it ... maybe I should make a point of learning mine too

Puce managed to stop the movement with the flash Lee, and the exposures good so you can't be a million miles away.
Have a look at strobist 101.

How does 'you've' become 'puce'?

I really like how you have managed this shot Lee, love the low key effect and the light falling on the top 2 leaves. The plant looks like paper.

I love this Lee. I'm rubbish with my flash so must do what you're doing and go experiment. Maybe I will get something as good as this, but I doubt it! Fav

This is lovely, the light's great. Honesty seed cases are very shiny and I think it would be easy to end up with a load of blown highlights but you've avoided that and kept the shiny look. I'm a sucker for b&w and would love to see a b&w version of this if you ever feel inclined.
