A Murmuration of Starlings

As usual I have a disclaimer ; not sure if this is a big enough group to be called a 'murmuration' and also not sure if it is only called a murmuration when it is flying but...there were a heck of a lot of starlings in these and other trees in the area and I just like the way murmuration sounds.

I've had that happen in the woods behind the house and did not like it at all! Thankfully they haven't returned for a few years now. But they do look pretty in this antique treatment.

@olivetreeann When I flirst saw them I was wondering if we were in for a re-make of Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds’. But it was really fascinating to see them flying around in a group, doubling back on themselves, making and breaking patterns in the sky.

Beautiful shot. We don't see many at this time of the year. They become a much bigger problem in the late summer/fall. Outside of town they have had murmurations with millions of birds.
