@markp Many years ago, I used to shoot a Minolta 35mm. When I finally got dragged, kicking and screaming, into digital photography I went for a Sony a100 since I could use my old Minolta lenses on the Sony. Several years after that, when I decided it was time to upgrade, I was planning on picking up the new 77SLT but, right at that time, there had been massive floods in Thailand which impacted the Sony factory and meant that the a77 was not available for a few months. In the meantime, the salesman at the local camera store tempted me with a really sweet deal on a canon 5D Mk2. I made the leap to full frame, and Canon, and began building a nice little collection of Canon lenses. More years passed and age and arthritis made holding the 5D over a day's shooting, with large lenses attached, a bit of a trial. I picked up an a6000 as a smaller more convenient travel camera and found I was using it more and more and leaving the Canon at home... but I did miss some of the features of a FF camera so, when I found that the 7RII with adapter, actually had usable focus with my Canon lenses, and my husband was in a generous mood, I made the move fully back to Sony, trading my 5D ( and a fair amount of $$) in for the 7RII. Still getting used to the new set up but overall I think it was a good move.
