I daresay they wouldn't let children in this shop! One touch and wham!
July 4th, 2017
Wow! I would take a wide path around it, lest I knock it down!
July 4th, 2017

Oh my! What a fantastic pile of books!

@photobird I think they built this book structure around a post or column. I thought it was so creative and fun! Upstairs is all about Sherlock Holmes where they did a street of shops from Sherlock Holmes stories, plus they created his study for afternoon tea.

@ludwigsdiana @hermann @angiedanielle24 @lyndamcg @maggiemae @kchuk @sarahlth @yogiw @danette @carole_sandford Thank you! I am sure this book structure is permanent and built around a support column. They are probably all fitted and glued or attached together and these books are not for sale! Very creative and eye catching! @judithdeacon

@judithdeacon I am familiar with the owner. Next time I see her I will ask if she had it built or was the book structure there when she bought the bookstore. Will let you know! :)

This kinda reminds me of the Book Tower in Washington, DC. It's an exhibit at the Ford's Theater, a national historic site I never would have visited had I not been collecting the passport stamps! http://www.npr.org/2012/02/20/147062501/forget-lincoln-logs-a-tower-of-books-to-honor-abe

6,800 books made of aluminum with the covers printed on to look like real books, all on Abe Lincoln. A closeup: http://media.npr.org/assets/img/2012/02/17/lincoln-tower-2_archive.jpg

@yogiw That is very cool...love it. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if there are really that many books written on Abe Lincoln? Wow. The book tower also reminds me of the vintage luggage tower that they have at the Sacramento Airport.
July 5th, 2017
@gardenfolk I read an article that said they used 7,000 of the 15,000 books written on Lincoln!!
July 6th, 2017
@gardenfolk Do you have a photo of that luggage tower?
July 6th, 2017
What a neat way of stacking books, very creative.
