Kindness can
become its
own motive.

kind by
being kind.

Ladybugs are a symbol of Good Luck and its one of the only insects that doesn’t scare me. That is a good thing since we have a house where I find them inside, a few times a year...in the windows, on the sills or crawling on the curtain near the French door. This has been going on for 22 years, since we bought the house. Turns out that ladybugs release pheromones to attract other ladybugs and are also attracted to heat that homes reflect. The chemical scent can remain year after year and can be detected from 1/4 mile away. I guess they are here to stay. So, whenever I find them inside, I rescue them and put them on a leaf outside. Turns out, you can tell the age of the ladybug by how black their spots are. If the dots are very dark, it is young. Adult ladybugs only live for 3-9 months and the number of spots indicates its species. The most spots have been 24. If you see yellow, that is their blood which comes out if they are stressed...interesting!
What a unique lady bug -or lady bird we sometimes call them. In Australia they are more yellowish. This is a superb macro with so much detail !and I like the texture of the leaf too.
@suzanne234 Thank you, Suzanne. Just come to my home then! LOL! I have many. My husband even bought some from the garden shop when our roses had aphids. They were a natural solution and did a great job. Ladybugs are about the only insect critter that doesn't make me jump out of my skin! :)
@fr1da Thank you. Reading up on ladybugs (ladybirds), I found lots of fascinating information. There are many types and many varieties of color ranging from black, red, orange yellow, etc...and many species of spots too from 1-24. I love learning from being on 365 too! :)
@ulla Many thanks! I love to see ladybugs. They are lucky and fun to see. Just come to my house. :)
@ribbet9 They are my favorite bug too, Candace! Other creepy crawlers make me jump out of my skin...and I am allergic to bees and other poisonous insects, like black widows. Yikes! Thank you! :)
Many thanks! If I do not find the ladybugs and get them back to nature, the house will dry them out and they would die. I would rather have them happy and eating aphids in our garden where they belong! Now...a spider might be a different story! :)
@carole_sandford Thank you Carole...I like ladybugs (ladybirds) too. They are about the only creepy crawler I do like! Here in the US, you can sometimes buy ladybugs from the garden shop for a natural pest control in your garden. My husband did that once. :)
Lovely against the green leaf. My Mother always said they were good luck and to leave them in the house. I think they found their way back outside. Have to watch tho cause they do bite.
