Can I Start Again? by gardenfolk

Can I Start Again?

When your worries
are louder than
howling winds
and your strength
is growing but
growing thin and
things are breaking
more than they bend
that is when you've
reached the end...
the perfect place
to start again.
...Morgan Harper Nichols

I know things could always be worse but it has been a rough beginning to my new year. I fell and hurt my knee, elbow and thumb on rocks and slippery leaves. I got some strange cold/cough/flu/laryngitis/or something? We have ants trying to take over our castle. We had a 5 hour power outage during a rainstorm with high winds last night. And by morning, our fence was damaged and leaning over and lots of redwood limbs strewn across our back yard. For a bit of good news, our expensive new roof is still intact and keeping out the rain. And the storm last night reminded me of the storm when a pregnant stray kitty snuck in our garage and picked us for shelter. She became my Katniss.

This photo shows dark storm clouds, a pretty California sunset and the beautiful palm trees I always looked forward to seeing when I turned into my neighborhood. However, the homeowner decided to chop them ALL down...all 6 or 7 of them!!! No! If I didn't want to cry before, I want to cry now. They were very old, very tall and beautiful palms against the sky. Nice on black.

Oh dear what a terrible start to the year. Hope it improves.

We have been away for a few days so I can't comment on all the photos I have missed, but I have checked them out. Will catch up soon but I am off to bed early tonight.

This is a lovely photo. So ā€œCaliforniaā€! Hereā€™s a little natural healing trick that seems to help upper congestion problems: oregano oil. 4 drops in 4 Oz water in the morning for 7 days. Iā€™ve seen it turn completely heal 2 friends who had bronchitis and didnā€™t want to go to the doctor. If you are on prescription drugs I donā€™t know if this can be added to your regimen. Though. Hope everything gets better soon.

@louannwarren You are so sweet, LouAnn! Thank you. I take cough medicine to try to sleep at night is all. Oregano is not my favorite spice. I prefer basil and dill but might need to give your remedy a try. It sounds fantastic! :)

@casablanca You are so kind...thank you! I am wishing the same for you and in your home as well. :)

Get well soon. Sorry to hear you are not good. Sorry for the palm trees, too... Can't understand what landowners think sometimes. In Italy you should get express permission by the authority to cut a tree.

@gardenfolk oh they say it tastes horrible and you have to stir and stir to get it to mix in with the water. But honestly I was amazed at how it healed them. One in particular was determined not to go to the emergency room she was so sick. I hope it does help you if you decide to try it!

Oh dear, take care :)
