The Bright Berry by gardenfolk

The Bright Berry

The merry year
is born like
the bright berry
from the naked thorn.
...Hartley Coleridge

On my walk to retrieve my vehicle at the car repair shop, I spotted these bright red berries. The bush was huge and completely covered. I don't know what they are but thought they were pretty and reminded me that Christmas will be here before I know it. However, we are still waiting for autumn colors first.

On a sad note, I lost a wonderful friend to cancer today. I thought I would have more time to say goodbye. Rest In Peace, dear Gloria. You will light up the Heavens and I will think of you often my friend.
You have caught the light on the glossy berries so well! I'm sorry you had to grieve for a friend!

Yes, these berries really make me think of Christmas- although I'm not ready for winter yet! They are a lovely explosion of color. My heart goes out to you on the loss of your friend. Life is truly precious and although you will miss her, it was a blessing that she touched yours so deeply. You and her family will be in my prayers.
