(a quote I came across when searching firemen quotes and others serving the public and human kind)

This is a photo of the famous little firehouse landmark in old town Auburn called Auburn Firehouse No.2 or the Auburn Hook and Ladder Company Firehouse. It has no match throughout the state. Although the firehouse was built in 1893, the Company has operated continuously since it was first organized on November 13, 1852, making it one of the oldest volunteer fire departments in the state. The volunteers were on hand when the worst fire in the town's history occurred in June of 1855. Unfortunately, they were no match for the blaze which nearly leveled the town in a matter of one hour and twenty five minutes. The original bell used to alarm the town in case of fire is stilled located on the third floor of the building under the steep, witch's hat roof.

Old town Auburn also has cute shops, dining and other historical buildings. Another interesting piece of trivia about old town Auburn is that it was the site of filming for the movie, Phenomenon, with John Travolta in 1996.

Cute little building- the red and white pattern on roof reminds me of Legos! It has an impressive history of valor and dedication. Glad to see it's still recognized for the important role it has played in this town. Good shot!
