How much deeper
would the ocean be
if sponges didn't
live there?

Tarpon Springs is known as the "Sponge Capital of the World." It lies on the Anclote River along Florida's Gulf Coast about 30 miles northwest of Tampa. This is an area where Greek immigrants settled during the early 1900's.
While about 8,500 sea sponge species have been recorded, more than 25,000 are thought to exist.
I visit to buy my bath sea sponges because they do not harbor bacteria.
