Norway is high mountains and deep fjords.
It is wide open spaces and rocky coastlines.
It is islands and archipelagos.
It is lush farmland and rolling moors.
The sea laps Norway's shores
in the north, west and south.
Norway is midnight sun and polar night.
It is harsh winters and mild winters.
It is hot summers and cold summers.
Norway is a long and sparsely populated country. But above all, Norway is its people.

This is Flam, Norway. We took a train up into the mountains to see waterfalls and the sparse isolated homes and snowy mountains. It was drizzling and there was still snow on the ground in the mountains.
The train, on its way up the mountain, stops at the waterfall Kjosfossen. It is only accessible by train. When you exit the train, a woman in a red dress starts dancing to music next to the falls. According to Norwegian folklore, she is called the Huldra, an elusive forest spirit from Norse mythology that lures men into the woods to seduce them. You can see her in the bottom photo if you look closely.
