Don't try to mine gold
when you can sell shovels.

After the baseball game on Sunday, we took a drive through downtown Placerville. We saw a stagecoach, horses and characters dressed up in old time garb.
I don't know if it was a special event or they will do this through Christmas? It is a cute town with some good shops and restaurants...if you can find a place to park.
Placerville is a charming California gold rush town named after the placer gold rush deposits found in its riverbeds and hills in the late 1840's. It is also called Hangtown.
Its treasured heritage is reflected in the historical nineteenth century architecture of its downtown though you will find heritage throughout the city limits.
