First Time For Everything

But there's always a
first time for everything.
...Melissa de la Cruz

Now this was the first time I have seen a squirrel lay like a "pelt" (called splooting) on the ground because it was so HOT. I have seen them sprawl out on the fence or on a tree limb this summer but never on the patio. Best on Black.

This has been one stinking hot summer. And our utility bill proves it. The record heat was fueled by a sweltering July that shattered records throughout the West.

Palm Springs reached 124 degrees, Death Valley peaked at 129 degrees, Las Vegas hit 120 and Redding hit 119 degrees.

There have been 39 days this year between 100-113 degrees in the Sacramento Area with the first 5 out of 7 days in September predicted over 100 degrees. It is supposed to break on Saturday. I cannot wait for cooler weather!

😳 Jack does that. Honey did that. Lucy did that. They just plop down in the middle of the floor and spread out. CRAZY HOT weather there. I have no right to complain although we have humidity on top of the heat which really blows. 😳

Not an uncommon sight in the summertime.

That's quite amazing. If you didn't know what it was doing you'd be worried that it was hurt..

A great capture, but poor sweetie! (splooting- that's a new word for me- thank you, Cathee :-) Those temperatures are just unbelievable! I really hope the heat breaks for you soon! Fav

Climate change has made summers too hot - is there enough water?
